Even though the word Numerology came in the English dictionary in the early 1900s, the study of numbers, it’s importance, and its connection with events and incidents in life has been talked about since time immemorial. The concept of Numerology is said to have originated from the civilisations in Babylonia (current day part of Iraq) and Egypt. History of Pythagorean Numerology

Another wave of Numerology started in Greece by the Greek philosophers especially Pythagoras, who is considered to be the father of Numerology in the modern day because of the amount of knowledge that he had gathered and shared. According to Pythagoras, numbers play an important role in identifying the nature of anything. Furthermore, as he was also more inclined towards mathematics, he considered numbers to be an authentic and a practical source to know the absolute truth. However, in spite of this, people were still not aware of the magic that one can create with numbers, and the state church was always against it as well. Although some sceptics and non-believers found it difficult to accept the fact that there can be a rational explanation behind this notion, Numerology saw a boom in the latter part of the years. Moreover, up till now, a lot of research has done which can easily prove that numbers play a vital role in everyone’s life and that each number has a specific meaning.

The modern numerology assigns a distinct value to each alphabet, which is similar to the Pythagorean Numerology. For example, A has a value of 1, B has a value of 2, and so on. Therefore, a lot can be derived from a single name of a person which can help in determining the quality of his life, his personality and much more. In such a case where a name has to be converted into numbers, each alphabet of the name has to be added to reach a single digit number by the process of Fadic addition. This means that all the values allocated to each alphabet have to be added repeatedly to reach a single digit number.Continue

Predominant Types of Numerology and Evolution

There are other types of Numerology as well, depending on when they were discovered and how they were used, but the below-mentioned ones are the most predominant.

• Chaldean • Kabbalah • Tamil • Western/Pythagorean

The Chaldean Numerology is one of the oldest forms of Numerology that was discovered in Ancient Babylon. Unlike the Pythagorean system where alphabets determine the calculations, this form of Numerology is based on the vibrations that each letter emits, which in turn, helps in further calculations.

The Kabbalah Numerologyis associated with the Hebrew culture where the name of the person is taken into consideration in the process of calculations rather than the date of birth, which does not hold much importance as far as the Kabbalah system of Numerology is concerned.

TheTamil Numerology originated from the southern part of India (Tamil) and is also known as the Indian Numerology. This form of Numerology considers three essential aspects with each individual while the calculation is made. These are the Psychic Number, Destiny Number, and the Name Number.

The Western Numerology is also known as Pythagorean Numerology and was discovered by none other than Pythagoras himself. In this form of Numerology, each letter in the alphabet is assigned a specific numerical value which further helps in the process of calculation. The Modern Numerology is based on the Western/Pythagorean Numerology.

Numerology has now become a very essential part of life in knowing more about one’s life, the personality that they carry and in knowing the relationship between the numbers and the incidents that have either taken place or may take place in the future. Numerology in the modern world has proved to be a sufficient tool to know more about life and its mysteries along with comprehending the absolute truth of life, death and the universe itself!
