Queen of Cups

The Queen of Cups is the Tarot card that symbolises intuition. Our intuition is so sharp that we can sense the needs of those around us without their telling us anything. And our sensitivity, receptiveness attracts people in distress to us. We not only offer them a shoulder to cry on, but because we can connect with them at the soul level, we can offer genuine warmth, caring and even remedies to their sufferings. In fact, when people come to us with their load of burdens, sometimes they try to hide some deeper secrets which they would not admit even to themselves. We have the ability to discern even these deeper secrets, almost like a seer, and therefore we lovingly offer them holistic remedies which attack the very roots of their sufferings. This earns us high regard in society. What we need to be careful about is the tendency to become over-sensitive and start identifying with the troubles of others to such an extent that we may lose a sense of our own self, leaving us disoriented and vulnerable. In a reading, this card indicates that we need to tap into the vast reserves of intuition and compassion in our sub-conscious self, because sometimes we are ourselves not aware of our potential in the fields of healing.

Each of the four suits of the Minor Arcana is divided further. Four Court Cards are extracted from each Minor Arcana suit, and they are classified under each category – The King, Queen, Knight and Page, signifying their specific traits. This makes the total Court Cards as 16. The King is creative, inspiring and bold, and wants to create a lasting impact on the world. The Queen is attractive, energetic, cheerful and self-assured; she does not impose, but subtly influences circumstances. The Knights may be termed as extremists, they express their qualities to the utmost limit. For instance, if they are cautious, they will be cautious to a fault, weighing all the pros and cons meticulously before taking a decision. The Page motivates us to enjoy the thrill of mental and even financial challenges.
