The year ahead looks brighter for Vivek Oberoi, says Ganesha

Vivek Oberoi, the son of the yesteryears’ actor Suresh Oberoi, of the throaty, deep voice fame, began his career in the Hindi film industry with a bang as Chandu, the character he played in his début film Company. It was a memorable performance, and Vivek stood tall in the ‘company’ of the industry’s stalwarts like Mohanlal, Ajay Devgn and Manisha Koirala. A star was born! But, as fate would have it, his consecutive films tanked at the box-office, one after the other. Although Saathiya and Yuva, two of his major movies were very well-received, they could not bring Vivek’s career back on the track. Then came his alleged involvement with the queen bee Aishwarya Rai and the infamous press conference, wherein he spoke against the Bollywood heavyweight Salman Khan. Things took a rather untoward down-trend from there, and Vivek’s career graph took a nosedive.However, films like Masti, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Kurbaan, Omkara and Rakt Charitra have helped Vivek showcase his talent, and survive in the industry, despite some major career goof ups. With films like Grand Masti and Krrish 3 slated to release this year, Vivek’s career looks set to be on the rise again. In his personal life too, Vivek seems to have gained a strong foothold, post his marriage to the Kannada beauty Priyanka Alva. He is also a proud father now!
