Lunar Eclipse: 3rd March 2007

The earth will witness a pair of eclipses in March 2007 of which the first will be a total lunar eclipse. The first eclipse of the year, a total lunar eclipse will occur past midnight of 3rd March. So, we can call it 4th March practically. This eclipse will be visible from every continent of the earth.

During this eclipse, the Moon will be in Leo 13 east of Makha of 1.3 magnitude. The eclipse will not be central but the total phase may still last for 73 minutes.

The eclipse of the Moon is caused when the Moon enters into the cone of shadow cast by the Earth. During the eclipse, the nodes of the Moon are aspecting both the personal planets- the Sun and Moon. They create an opening in our psyches for restrained energies to enter, either positively or negatively. It is therefore best to do spiritual practices during eclipses. It is not advisable to do activities like having a surgery, or signing an important document or any other material activities. Eclipses are excellent times for meditation, chanting mantras, or other spiritual practices. It is recommended to fast and take advantage of the subtle influences of the eclipse time.

Since the Moon governs domestic matters, the public and the emotional personality rather than leadership, it tends to have a more personal effect. Lunar Eclipse is much more subconscious and subtle in nature.

The effect of an Eclipse will last until the next Lunar Eclipse.

We need to consider two factors to determine the effects of the eclipse-House polarity and planet situated therein. Having determined which House polarity the Eclipse is situated in, we need to see whether it comes within orb (+/- 5 degrees) of a conjunction or opposition of a Natal Planet. If it does, then the Eclipse effects are likely to be of much more importance than if there were no Planets involved, and the nature of the Planet itself will be very effective indeed.

The energy of any lunation is always most strongly felt a day or so before the Moon reaches the exact alignment with the Sun.

The eclipse occurs in Purvaphalguni Nakshatra. So those born in it and Makha, Uttaraphalguni, Bharani and Purvashadha will have more acute effects of the eclipse. So it is advisable for them to perform Vrata, Japa and Grahashanti.

This eclipse does not seem good particularly for Africa and parts of Europe and Asia. It is also not good for India as well. The effects could be a bit upsetting. All these parts of the earth should be prepared for troubles of many sorts.

The people living in places where they are able to see the liberated Moon, before it sets need not to extend the Vrata. Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Amritsar, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi, Hardwar, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolhapur, Mumbai, Nasik, Pune, Rajkot, Shimla, Sirnagar and Ujjain are some of the main cities where the eclipse liberated Moon could be seen before it sets.

I always believe that all the adverse effects could be reduced or prevented by the act of wisdom and preventive measures.
