The superhero of all superheroes, Rajinikanth, it turns out, may be human after all – as Ganesha predicts that he may have to face some major health issues in the upcoming year. Yet, it is an eloquent testimony to his cult status that it is foreseen that, even though he is 66, whatever movie he does in the year ahead will be another big hit.
Born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad in 1950, Rajinikanth began as primarily a South Indian actor and then branched out into Bollywood, and even into Hollywood. During his long and colourful career on the silver screen, Rajinikanth has won six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award. He was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016. In 2014, at the 45th International Film Festival of India, he was given the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year.
