A non-periodic comet was discovered in June 2011 using the Pan-STARRS telescope located near the summit of Haleakala, in Hawaii. The comet was named C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS). Initially, the comet could be seen using a large amateur telescope from a dark place. However, as the comet came closer to perihelion, it became more and more clearly visible. And on 7th February, 2013, it could be seen even without any optical aid. The comet PANSTARRS passed closest to earth on 5th March, 2013 and came to perihelion on 10th March, 2013.
