Assembly elections for 117 seats in Punjab are to take place on 13th February 2007. To some extent, the elections look like a battle between Badal and Capt. Amrinder Singh.
The veteran Akali Leader Shri Prakash Singh Badal is currently under the influence of the period of Ketu-Venus-Jupiter. Jupiter is very strong and placed well in the natal chart. It gets enormous strength in Navmansa chart as well. The transiting Jupiter is moving over the five planets situated in sign Scorpio in trine with natal Jupiter. So Akali Dal's supreme leader Parkash Singh Badal is passing through excellent period. There is no doubt; the Akali Dal leader will emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.
Chief minister Capt. Amrinder Singh is passing through the critical period of his political career. The transiting Rahu is moving over the natal Sun in square with Saturn and Mars may create tough challenge for him. It would be very difficult for him to hold his office.
In Congress party chart the transiting Moon on the election Date. It would be moving in square with natal Moon and Rahu and the transiting Sun along with Rahu in the 12th house from the Ascendant, which doesn't sound particularly good for the present government. The current Dasha of Rahu-Moon is also not quite conducive indicating lack of focus, steady policy and confusing mindset of leaders. The only heartening factor is the transiting Jupiter.
BJP is currently passing through Venus-Saturn-Ketu period and Ketu is placed with the Lord of Ascendant. Adding to this is the fact that the transiting Rahu is passing over the natal Mercury. These factors are not so encouraging for them. They may have some gain due to transiting Jupiter but it may only make marginal difference in their position in Punjab. For BJP's main alliance partner (Akali Dal), the transiting Saturn and Jupiter seem favorable.
It seems that the Akali Dal-BJP combination will emerge as the largest coalition in the House, but they may not get a clear majority on their own.
Good luck to all the candidates and may Lord Ganesha bless all of us!
