What will happen to ‘The Happening’ at the Box-office?
Introduction: Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan, professionally known as M. Night Shyamalan came in the limelight with the Bruce Willis starrer ‘The Sixth Sense’. His career graph has been fluctuating quite a bit despite all the good movies like Unbreakable, Signs, The Village etc. His last movie ‘Lady in the Water’ got a very low opening business on the box office and now he is coming out with a Mark Wahlberg starrer- ‘The Happening’. The interesting part of the story is that he is releasing this movie on ‘Friday the 13th’ – a day which is considered to be quite unlucky. There was a series of movies with the title ‘Friday the 13th’ and it was a complete horror series. Question is, will Shyamalan make it a big success story on the box office with ‘The Happening’ or the movie will flop at the box office?M. Night Shyamalan

M. Night Shyamalan’s Potential as Director
Ganehsa observes that Shyamalan has debilitated Venus in Sun’s constellation Uttarabhadrapada. Moon was in Uttarabhadrapada throughout the day so he is most likely to have conjunction between Moon and Venus in Sun’s constellation, presumes Ganesha. This is the factor that makes him a good and hard working director – Venus Moon conjunction in Virgo. Ganesha notes that his Sun Sign is Leo and Leos do have a abundant celebrity potential. As per Vedic Astrology system he has three debilitated planets in Natal chart. Venus is debilitated in Virgo, Saturn debilitated in Aries and Mars debilitated in Cancer. These factors are detrimental to his career progress despite his very good directorial ability.
The Happening Release Time Horoscope
13th June 2008
Los Angeles, CA, USA
Ganesha observes that in the release time horoscope of this movie, Saturn is posited in the Ascendant which is detrimental to the movie’s success, forming Square with Sun posited in the Midheaven. Venus the significator of Arts being 10th house Lord is posited in the 11th house but in Mercury’s dual sign Gemini and aspected by retrograde Jupiter. 2nd house of finance’s Lord Mercury is retrograde and conjunct Ascendant Lord. Out of these factors, a majority is on the negative side. If we consider Shyamalan’s Natal chart, transiting Moon will be passing over his Jupiter in Libra. Moon in Venus’ sign Libra is good but again, it’s in Kemdrum Yoga (there is no planet in the previous and next house to Moon at the time of release). It is to be noted that Mr. Shyamalan is currently experiencing Mars Return and Mars is weak in his Natal chart as well as in the Release time chart. In the release time chart, Mars is Yoga Karaka planet, posited in the 12th house with Ketu, a strong malefic planet, making this film’s position very weak.
Ashtakvarga at the time of release
Ganesha observes that in Ashtakvarga chart of the release time horoscope, there are 32 Auspicious Bindus in the Karma Bhuvan and 25 Bindus in the house of gains (11th house) and 24 Bindus in the house of loss (12th house) which is equal to 24 Bindus in the house of finances (2nd house). These factors are indicating a less than expected business at the box office.
‘The Happening’ at the Box Office
Summarily, Ganesha feels that despite a very good directorial touch and nail-biting sequences in this movie, Shyamalan may not be able to make it a very big hit at the box office. It may have slightly good opening business but the movie may start losing business by the word of mouth (retrograde Mercury in the Karma Bhuvan of release time chart). This movie may do average business at the box office and Shyamalan will have to be prepared to digest this. Very few people will appreciate this movie and this movie may hardly get repeat audience, feels Ganesha. Can we say that by choosing Friday the 13th, an unlucky day, Shyamalan has taken a wrong decision?
Ganesha wishes good luck to Shyamalan for ‘The Happening’ and also for his forthcoming projects.
