Priyanka Chopra catapulted to fame and stardom by winning the Miss World pageant in the year 2000. Even though, she wanted to pursue engineering or psychiatry, she had been modelling successfully for a while, when started getting film offers. She soon accepted the offers to join the film industry, and subsequently made her début in the Tamil film Thamizhan in the year 2002. A self-made woman to a great extent, Chopra, a simple girl from the small-town Bareilly, albeit from a Defence services background, has conquered significant milestones in her illustrious career. She has also won a few Filmfare awards and the prestigious National Award in her acting journey till now. Having firmly established herself as one of the leading ladies in Bollywood, she has forayed into yet another passion of her that is singing. She recently featured in the music video for her single "Exotic" featuring American rapper Pitbull. Priyanka has won the admiration of the audiences with her song, though critics are yet to be impressed. Recently, Priyanka suffered a setback in her personal life, after she lost her father to cancer in June 2013. Her closeness with her father can be gauged from the fact that in 2012, she had got a tattoo reading "Daddy's lil girl", in his handwriting.
