The Nobel Peace Prizes were announced on Oct 8. Journalists Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov have won the Nobel Peace Prize for their fights to defend freedom of expression in the Philippines and Russia.

Dmitry Andreyevich Muratov is a Russian journalist, television presenter and editor-in-chief of the Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta. While Maria Ressa, Filipino-American journalist, author, and the first independent Filipino Nobel laureate. She is the co-founder and CEO of ‘Rappler’, an independent news website based in the Philippines.
