North node and South node i.e. Rahu and Ketu do not have physical body of their own. They are considered as shadow planets. But their effect is seen on the physical planets. According to the principle of Astrology, North node (Rahu) is considered as the mouth of the serpent and South node (Ketu) is considered as tail of the serpent.
Effects of North Node- Rahu
Rahu always gives good results in the signs of Mercury and Venus. Rahu is considered as a shadow of Moon and shadow is always inseparable from its object. Being the shadow of the Moon it gives strong effect in Moons sign, Cancer. Rahu is not considered favourable in fiery signs i.e. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. North node gives good results in Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Aquarius and Cancer. Rahu in these signs gives success by ones intelligence, firmness and strong efforts. Whenever Rahu is placed in the fiery sign it creates many difficulties for the matter of that House e.g. If Rahu is placed in the 6th House in Aries it creates difficulty in the service of the native. In such a situation the native has to pass through tough period with quarrels and court cases.
Effects of South Node- Ketu
South node is considered as narrow portion being the tale of the serpent. So it creates narrowness in the life of the native. Ketu is also considered as a planet for giving spiritual knowledge. So we can say South Node gives good results for the matters related to non material world. South node is favourable in the fiery signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. If Ketu is placed in the 2nd House in signs of Mercury or Venus than it may result in shortness of money. If Ketu is placed in 6th House in same signs it may result in difficulty in service matters.
