Formation – This stone is formed in alluvial deposits and geodes.
Sources – Amethyst from the Urals is known to have a reddish tinge; the Canadian Amethyst is violet. Other places, which are known for Amethyst mining or production include Sri Lanka, India, Uruguay, Madagascar, U.S.A, Germany, Australia, Nambia and Zambia.
