According to Indian Vedic Astrology, Saturn the planet of karmic manifestations is in Cancer starting 26th May, 2005 along with Mars the planet of energy starting 24th May, 2006. Saturn and Mars were in conjunction(0 degrees) on 18th of June, 2006 was highlighted in all print and electronic media in India. Accidents communal tension, especially in the Indian context were probable as a result of this planetary combination. Both Saturn and Mars are in a trine(120 degrees) with Rahu the mysterious planet and hence terrorist attacks came into play.

Why Mumbai ?
According to The GaneshaSpeaks Team, things turned for the worse when Saturn entered Ashlesha Nakshatra(Constellation) on the 4th of July, 2006 with Mars already in Ashlesha. Ashlesha points towards Maharashtra, Orissa, Bengal, UP and Tripura and hence Mumbai which is a part of Maharashtra came into the picture. Logically speaking, India can be hurt if any of its metros is targeted, especially Mumbai which is also the commercial capital.
