Must-Know Things About Spiritual Healings

Spiritual Healing may look like a new concept but it is as old as Indian civilization. Moreover, it has been prevalent in India since Vedic times.

To quote Dr Schlitz, who has done a lot of work on this subject in modern times, “This is a remarkable time in human history—never before have so many world views, belief systems, and ways of engaging reality come into contact. Through the Internet, awareness of the world’s wisdom and spiritual traditions has expanded. We now have access to practices that were once isolated in the Himalayas or deep in the Amazon and available only to a very small group of adepts. Today we are experiencing a convergence of these different ways of knowing, science on one hand and diverse religious, spiritual and cultural traditions on the other.”

Dr Marilyn Schlitz is a PhD scholar and is the Vice President of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and Senior Scientist at the Research Institute of the California Pacific Medical Center. And surprising to know that she is a renowned name in spiritual healing.

Spiritual Healing in India

What Dr. Schlitz has said is not the complete truth. To say that healing practices were isolated in the Himalayas to a few practitioners would not be correct. Spiritual Healing has been widespread in India. Many of our Rishis, if not all, were spiritual healers. Many of them are even present now. A number of the spiritual practices in India are even codified. Few of these have become part and parcel of the life of Indians.

Let’s discuss that below.

What is Spiritual Healing?

Spiritual Healing is giving relief to someone through Supreme Energies that are all around us. According to Su Mason, a spiritual healer, spiritual healing is defined as: “The treatment that involves the transfer of energy through the healer to the recipient. It promotes self-healing by relaxing the body, releasing tensions and strengthening the body’s own immune system. Healing is natural and non-invasive with the intention of bringing the recipient into a state of balance and wellbeing on all levels.”

Spiritual healing is not linked to any particular religion. It is not faith healing – even very sceptical people can be healed.

In medical science also, numerous medical institutes and practitioners are realizing its role and significance. In the medical field, it is commonly called Energy Medicine. No doubt, it is a field of alternative medicine, which is hugely based on the belief that healers can seamlessly channel the healing energy into a patient and bring out positive results. Recently, it is also becoming a part of the medical curriculum in many institutes the world over.

Let’s now get on the horizon to learn about the various types of healing.

Types of Energy Healings

Many schools of energy healing exist using different names. Like:

  • Spiritual healing
  • Contact healing
  • Distant healing
  • Therapeutic Touch
  • Reiki
  • Qigong

And others. Different groups practice these different types of spiritual healing methods.

Five Most Popular Types of Energy Healings

Reiki Healing

this is a word from Japan and the system also belongs to Japan. It is made of two words. Rei and Ki. Rei means “God’s wisdom” and Ki meaning “energy”.

This therapy is used as an alternative medicine for any kind of patient. In this system, energy is channelized to the other person. Lots of hand movement techniques and specific symbols are used to channelize the energy of the universe to heal the body.

Reiki is said to help ailments like cold, flu, head and stomach aches. It is also quite effective in serious illnesses such as heart disease.

Pranic Healing

This healing is all about using the body’s life force to heal the body energy. This therapy works specifically on the energy of the body or aura of a person.

In this therapy, energy is used to clean the toxic from the body. This accelerates the healing process.

Crystal Healing

This healing is slightly different. In this system, stones and crystals are used to draw out impurities from the body.

Here stones or crystals work differently on the body and target different kinds of physical, emotional and spiritual problems.

They repel negative energy from the body, which disturbs mental and physical well-being. After their purifying effect, the concerned patient is out of the problem.

They are not only of a spiritual kind but also is said to be working on materialistic part of life like love issues, sales and marketing of products, etc.

Quantum Healing

The thought behind this process is that most diseases start in the mind and end in the mind. With positive thoughts (quantum thinking) in our mind, we can heal any diseases including cancer. It says that inside and outside, the human body consists of energy. By using this energy we can heal any disease.

It also believes that the human body has a capacity to heal by itself without any adverse effects. And it brings better results.

Qigong

Qigong therapy is used to regain the lost balance of the body. With a history of some 4,000 years, Qigong is comprised of coordinated movements of the body along with breathing and meditation to stimulate health and spirituality.

The therapy has its root in Chinese medicine and is said to balance the positive energy of the body, which is required to stay healthy.

Around the world, various spiritual therapies are carried out in different names. But, ultimates these spiritual healing methods aim to cure the deep inner wounds. And, India has its own way to address these spiritual wounds.

Indian Ways of Spiritual Healing Therapies

Yoga

Yoga is a known way of getting rid of many physical problems. It has many further branches of healing. It is worldwide recognized as the best alternative medicinal procedure to attain overall health. After aggressive promotion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has been adopted by United Nations as well. Mr. Modi has himself benefited a lot by adopting yoga in his life.

Word YOG is derived from the Sanskrit word Yuj, which means binding. Yog or Yoga works on all parts of our life. Be it physical, emotional, sentimental, spiritual or mental. It brings all these aspects of the human body in balance. So it is a complete alternative medicine. Now a day, its positive impact on the human body is universally accepted. Even experienced doctors prescribe this along with normal medicine to those who are facing serious health issues.

Treatment by Chakras

This is a unique Indian system like Yog. There are seven chakras in our body. By our efforts, we can awaken them. When these chakras are awakened one by one, our internal strength starts increasing. Positive energy starts generating in the body. We become happy and satisfied internally.

Since internal strength increases, diseases start vanishing. The seven kinds of chakras are Mooladhar, Swadhisthan, Manipur, Anahat, Vishudh, Agya and Sahastrar.

Establishing Contact with an Enlightened Guru

There are many Rishis and Munis in India, who have spiritual powers to heal any patient. Through ancient spiritual scripts, we have learned that Rishi used to give vardaan to people who used to serve them sincerely. That used to be the spiritual power of Rishi to bestow anything to anyone.

By blessings of such Saints, one can be healed. But the contrary is that such renowned and pious saints are not easily available today. On the flip side, unethical practices have taken place and started by proclaiming oneself to be such a blessed Guru.

Through Mantras

Our Rishis have given us so many mantras. Just by reciting those mantras, one can be easily healed. Like Mahamritunjaya Mantra. It is called the king of mantras. By doing its full recital of 1.25 lakh mantras, one can get major relief from any disease.

It has been practically felt that those on death bed can be revived if this mantra is done in full with dedication by learned pundit.

Like this, there are many mantras of different Gods to get not only inner peace and health but also to fulfil physical desires.

Through Yantras and Tantras

Like mantras, there are other ways of getting healed. It is through worshipping yantras and performing some tantric rituals that one can get relief.

Tantrik rituals are of two kinds. Broadly speaking, one should use good tantric practices, which does not harm anyone but are useful to human beings.

Good effects of healing can be quantified. But those who use it will tell its positive effects on their body and mind. It brings completeness, tells the real meaning of life, gives spiritual maturity. It all helps in reducing negativity of all kind.

Conclusion

It is not that spiritual healing is required only for the sick and unenergetic people. Spiritual healing should be part of our daily life. As we grow in age, practising spiritually is of utmost importance. Otherwise, we lose the meaning and purpose of life and the solution to our negativities. It is a must to be in harmony with the Supreme Lord, nature and the ecosystem around us. It will bring peace and happiness into life.
