Rudrabhishek Puja Muhurat: Vidhi, Time & Benefits

To worship Lord Shiva, the ritual known as Rudrabhishek is a powerful yet easy ritual that involves offering water, milk, and some simple items on the Shivling and will typically include chanting of mantras. 

Although the process of performing the ritual itself is quite simple, many people fail to take into account when they should conduct the ritual.

An important aspect of conducting a Vedic ceremony is timing-what is referred to as “muhurat” or “auspiciousness” in Hindu tradition. The timing of the Rudrabhishek ceremony will also have a direct impact on how well a participant performs throughout the entire Puja (Chanting Ceremony).

Many individuals perform the Rudrabhishek for peace of mind, to eliminate barriers, or develop stability in their lives. By performing the Rudrabhishek at the right Muhurat, does not complicate the process but merely allows you to direct your efforts in more of an aligned manner.

Importance of Muhurat

Although there are no limitations regarding which day you may conduct your Rudrabhishek Puja, the correct Muhurat will enhance the effectiveness of your puja.

Best Days and Timings

• Mahashivratri: The most powerful day
• Shravan month: Very auspicious, especially Mondays
• Pradosh Kaal (evening time): Very good for Shiva puja
• Monday: The most auspicious day for Lord Shiva

Morning is usually preferred, but evening Pradosh time is also very good.

Things to Remember

• Use clean items
• Don’t rush
• Stay calm and focused
• Do it with faith, not pressure
