The Legend - Kartik Purnima
It is believed that Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripura on the Kartik Purnima day, and that devotees who worship him on this day achieve the four aims of human life – Dharma, Arth, Kama and Moksha. It is also believed that all deities come down to earth on this day and bless their devotees. Large fairs and melas are also organized in most villages, towns and cities on this day. It is believed that donations given on this day achieve benefits equal to 100 Ashvamedh Yagyas.
