October Festivals

The month of Navratri, Durga Pujo, and Dussehra is here! October has a lot to offer in terms of Indian Festivals. It is also the month of Diwali, the most significant Hindu festival, doubling the excitement. Let’s start with Durga Ashtami. This grand Hindu festival celebrated prominently by Bengalis worldwide is a 5-day long extravaganza, which is celebrated in honour of the mighty mother Goddess. Dussehra, the celebration of victory, holds the immense noteworthiness that dates back to the lore of Ramayana. It is also named Vijayadashami as per the Hindu scripture. The day also marks the shattering of the bloated ego of Ravana and the winning of good over evil. Then there’s Karwa Chauth, which is observed across the nation where married women pray for their husbands’ long lives and seek God’s blessings.
