Panchakarma Types
Below are the five methods of Panchakarma which helps you in detoxifying the body and balancing the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Vamanam (Vomiting): Vamanam is a type introduced to remove Kapha from the body. It is caused by excess mucus. Vamana is best to remove congestion from the lung and all Kapha-related diseases. It also is useful for skin diseases such as psoriasis.
Virechanam: The elimination of toxins from the intestine with the help of therapeutic purgation, laxative. This process of panchakarma is effectively a cure in the case of jaundice and hemorrhoids.
Aasthaapana/Niruham: A enema type using quath to eliminate diseases because of Vata. Vata is a body or a dosha that prevails in the colon.
The process involves inducing the herbal solution into the rectum. This helps in relieving constipation, back pain, kidney stones, and various joint pain.
Anuvaasan (Oil Enema): Oil Enema helps relieve diabetes and obesity. Diseases caused by Vata dosha imbalance are treated with Anuvaasan.
Vata aggravated diseases, such as paralysis, arthritis, joint disorders, urinary and reproductive disorders help with the practice of Anuvaasan.
Nasyam: Nasyam is the panchakarma type that focuses on removing humour from the body which is stपंचकर्म के प्रकारored in the throat, nose, or head area.
The process involves the inhalation of oil through the nostrils. A measured dose of the medicine is poured into the nostrils as the person inhales. Nasyam is beneficial for migraine, chest congestion, and chronic diseases.
Panchakarma Diet Plan
While undergoing the Panchakarma treatment, it is also crucial to take care of your diet. As your body and the organs are on a mission and are working towards it. Consuming heavy food makes it divert from its primary task and instead has to focus on digesting the choked-down food. Hence, consume light food such as Kitchari (hotch-potch). Maintain this pattern for the next 4-5 days. Subsequently, reduce spices in your diet such as ginger, pepper, salt.
