Stars look bright and shiny for South Africans this Cricket World Cup!
Once it was the Duckworth Lewis rule, another time it was a crucial run-out that ruined their close chase of the World Cup Trophy! South Africans have not had easy on the cricket field, especially when it comes to this international 'Big Daddy' of cricket tournaments. So close and yet so far! In their first ever World Cup appearance, post the apartheid induced ban from South Africa was lifted, the Proteas met head on with a controversial, rain delayed match during Semi-finals. The match and the unjust rule was their undoing in the tournament. Later in the year 1999 World cup, South Africa played one of its greatest matches against Aussies, which ended in a tie due to Allan Donald's close run-out. There ended another of their trysts with the World Cup. Thus, South Africa's long held ambition still remains a dream. However, whatever may have happened in the past, tomorrow's always another day! Although the team South Africa is not entering the World cup as the top favourites, yet thanks to their tight fielding and strong top-order batting line up, Proteas can still give any team a run for its money!

Will the Proteas be able to remove the so-called jinx, and win the World Cup? Will Graeme Smith and Co. be able to accomplish what previous South African teams have failed to achieve? Or will this World Cup be just another World Cup with predictable results? Through Vedic astrology, Ganesha finds out what the future has in store for the South African cricket team as fas as cricket is concerned.

The South African team has got all the talent and ability to win the World Cup, says Ganesha. As per Ganesha's calculations, the transiting Sun and Mars will help them immensely during the first round of the tournament. They will perform well against almost of all the opponents. However, India can be a tough opponent for them. Their match against Bangladesh may also be very interesting. They are likely to reach Quarter Finals with a relative ease. However, the match against England will be crucial for the South Africans. The transiting Mars, Venus and Sun are very favourable for them during the Quarter Finals. But, if they qualify second in the Group B, and meet New Zealand in the Quarter Finals, the match will be very exciting, and an upset cannot be ruled out. They will have to perform well, if they qualify as Number 1 in Group B as the period between 25th March and 29th March looks very risky. They have strong chances to qualify for the Semi-Finals, predicts Ganesha. South Africa looks set to be strong during the latter stages of the tournament. However, Pakistan and Sri Lanka can be formidable opponents for them, and either of them can stop South Africa in Semis. The day of Final match is also favourable for South Africans. Ganesha feels that if South Africa meets India or Australia in the Finals, the match will be full of drama and excitement, and the world will see a fascinating contest.

We wish them good luck. May Lord Ganesha bless them.
