Ganesha predicts mixed fortunes for England's captain Andrew Strauss
England, and their captain Andrew Strauss, were on a high after an historic Ashes victory in Australia recently, but were soon brought down to earth with a 1-6 drubbing by the hosts in the ODIs that followed. It is not exactly the best note on which they can go into the ODI World Cup, and Strauss will have a lot of thinking to do. After a brief, early flirtation with captaincy in 2006, when he dubbed himself "the stand-in for the stand-in" in the absence of the injured Vaughan and Flintoff, Strauss inherited the armband again in 2009. He had an ominous start to his captaincy when England were bowled out for 51 in Jamaica to lose his first match in permanent charge. However, in partnership with the meticulous Andy Flower, Strauss set about rebuilding England's reputation, moulding a squad that looks capable of becoming the No. 1 side in the world.

Ganesha, with the help of Vedic astrology, takes a look at the England captain's prospects during the forthcoming ODI World Cup.

The compact left-handed England captain will have mixed fortune with the bat during this World Cup. Due to favourable transit of Moon, Mars and Venus he is likely to begin his World Cup campaign in a confident manner and may score well in the first match against Netherlands. But his performance against India will be very average. His form may pick up against Ireland, and he is likely to play a big innings. He will face problems against South Africa and may get out after a good start. He will contribute useful runs against Bangladesh. But his performance against West Indies may not match his potential. His performance in the quarter-final will be good, and he is likely to play a very important knock if England reaches the semi-finals. His performance will be very average, if England enters the finals.

We wish him good luck and may Lord Ganesha bless him.
