Complacency against weaker teams may spoil the fun for Dhoni's dashing devils, warns Ganesha.
It has been 27 long years since that memorable day in 1983 when India, playing as underdogs, stunned the high and mighty West Indies to lift the cricket World Cup. Though cricket was a popular sport in India even before that, the 1983 victory turned it into a religion and the members of the team, led by Kapil Dev or 'Kapil's Devils' were dubbed as national heroes for years to come. Starting February 19, the World cup this time will be held in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, where conditions will immensely favour the hosts. Besides this home advantage, 'Dhoni's Devils' is a team bursting at its seams with match-winners, hard-hitters from Virender Sehwag at the top to Yusuf Pathan down the order, who can change the course of a match and win it single-handedly. In the 2007 World Cup, India were knocked out in the first round itself. But, this time India go into it as the top-ranked Test team and second-ranked ODI team. Only time will tell whether Dhoni's Devils will pull it off, but one thing is for sure: they owe it to their one billion fans in the country.
Meanwhile, with the help of Vedic astrology, Ganesha takes a close look at India's stars and how much they favour the hosts to win the World Cup for the second time. Ganesha notes that the transiting Jupiter is very favourable for India whereas the transiting Rahu in Sagittarius and retrograde Saturn in Virgo look adverse. The transiting Sun and Mars will have a positive impact. During this World Cup one thing is very clear: there are no favourites that can claim to be invincible. The tournament is wide open. India is a formidable team and has the potential to lift the trophy, but as per Ganesha's calculations, it will not be very easy. Ganesha feels that Team India will do well during the first round of the tournament. They may perform strongly against the strong teams. But India will have to be very careful against weak teams such as Bangladesh, Netherlands and West Indies. Complacency will be very costly. Ganesha feels that India will reach the quarter-finals, but it will be very important for them to reach there as the No.1 team in Group B. The period between 19th March and 25th March looks extremely difficult. If they reach the quarter-finals as No. 2 team in Group B, it will become very difficult to reach the semi-finals. The day of the first semi-final is not auspicious for Team India. But if they play the 2nd semi-final, chances to enter the final are strong. Interestingly, the day of the final looks very favourable for India. So if India qualifies for the final, they are likely to win the World Cup. In short, there are a few barriers to cross to become the champions. We wish Team India good luck. May Lord Ganesha bless them.
