Best remembered for his awesome spell of 6-23 in the 2003 Cricket World Cup against England, Delhi’s left-arm fast bowler Ashish Nehra has had a chequered career. If it wasn’t for his frequent injuries in the back and ankle, requiring multiple surgeries, he would no doubt have been not only India’s but one of the world’s best fast bowlers ? because he has the optimum pace, the accuracy, the subtle variations of line and length, and a devastating late inswinger that could rattle the best batsmen in the world. Emerging at the world stage during India’s tour to Zimbabwe in 2001, where he made his ODI debut, he was touted as one of the most promising fast bowlers in the world. However, he later struggled, and was sidelined, mostly due to his injuries, but having hit the headlines with a creditable showing in the second IPL, he was recalled to the ODI squad for the tour of West Indies in June 2009. Now he is fully fit and raring to go at the upcoming World Cup.

The fiery fast bowler of India, Ashish Nehra will have a favourable transit of Mars and Rahu during this Cricket World Cup. Ganesha feels that he is likely to perform with tremendous aggression, and may begin his World Cup campaign on a positive note against England. His performance will improve significantly against Netherlands and Ireland. He may pick up vital wickets but may prove expensive during those matches.  However, he may be slightly wayward against South Africa and West Indies. He will bowl well in the quarter-finals particularly if, India plays the 3rd or 4th quarter-final. If India can reach the semi-finals and Finals, he is likely to deliver fiery spells, and may take important wickets, but he may not be able to contain batsmen and may prove expensive.
