AGP-BJP alliance: all set to usher in bipolar polity in Assam

The AGP-BJP alliance is seen as a definite change in the arithmetic that the Congress was trying to work out in the state. There is nothing in common between the AGP and BJP ideologically, except to humiliate the ruling party by averting a three-way split in the vote-bank since they both share the same source base. This also comes as a dampener to the hope that Congress has been nurturing, that an anti-incumbency factor will adversely affect the AGP.

The minorities will be more in favour of the Congress than with the AGP-BJP combine as, both the AGP and BJP are in favour of scrapping the IMDT Act, which is seen by the Congress as a piece of legislation that safeguards the interests of religious minorities, especially those from Bangladesh. The two Left parties the CPI & the CPI(M), which have been with the AGP since the 1996 Assembly elections, have already severed ties with the AGP following its decision to tie up with the BJP. While the CPI has started knocking at the doors of the Congress, the CPI(M) is yet to decide its future course of action.

However, a look at the fall in Congress tally from 73 to 53 in the 2006 assembly elections, and the improvement in the individual performances of AGP and BJP (a total of 42 percentage of votes that the AGP and BJP polled in the last parliamentary elections) show that their electoral prospects this time around seem better. While the chief minister himself accepts that the electoral tie-up of AGP-BJP would be a factor in the polls, he asserts that the coming together of the parties whom he calls as the two betrayers, makes it easy for the Congress to gain in the elections. The AGP president Patowary, declared that the electoral understanding between AGP and BJP would definitely prevent Congress from taking advantages and snatching power. First house Cusp falls in Pisces so both the parties may feel secure with each other and Jupiter in the 7th house indicates that they realise their primary motivation through meaningful contacts with people.

Ascendant Sqaure Sun may give strong desire to become a dominant player in the election.

Third house cusp Lord in the 5th house indicates that their thinking tends to be practical and conservative and may be able to win hearts through aggressive speeches and words.

Fifth house cusp Lord in the 10th house indicates that the alliance may have the potential for gaining recognition and authority in this elections.

Sixth house cusp ruler in the 9th house suggests that they will travel to distant places of the region and work hard to convince people.

Saturn in the 6th house suggests internal problems in their workers and may require extra focus dealing with them.

Saturn trine Sun indicates serious and realistic approach with clear vision and enthusisam to achieve goals.

Mars in the 6th house suggests active, energetic and industrious workers who may be asset to any opposition.

Sun conjunct MC suggests positive attitude and this will assist the alliance to achieve their objectives during this elections. They will receive honours through hard work and endeavour.

Prediction

During polling in Assam, the transiting Sun trine composite MC looks excellent for the Alliance. The transiting Sun apporaching composite PF (Pars Fortuna) is also strong indication of favouring fortune. Transiting Rahu and Saturn's aspects are slightly difficult. But overall conditions are in favour of the AGP-BJP alliance. They are likely to create tough conditions for four-decade long rule of Congress and will be successful in establishing a "bipolar polity" by winning many more seats than the previous Lok Sabha elections.
